FINISHED!! – North Woods HST Strip Quilt

I finally decided to send my North Woods HST Strip Quilt off to Robin at Ormond Beach Quilts for her to quilt it. We decided on Wonderland Stars 2 for the quilting pattern. Here’s a close-up of how that came out.

I chose Cranberry Rosemaling and Icicle Garland, both from the North Woods line for the backing and binding respectively. Here’s a shot that shows both of those lovely fabrics.

As soon as I finished the binding, I had to get a picture of how pretty this quilt turned out to be! I threw it over the railing of the deck outside our bedroom and snapped a few photos.

We were leaving the next day for a week’s vacation in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, so I brought it along. I wanted to show it to my sister-in-law, since she and my brother and their adorable son were meeting us there. I decided to take a few more pictures while we were there.

  1. What a beautiful finish. Beautiful photos, too. I especially like the one hanging on the fence. They look like boats sailing between the buildings. 500 pieces! It sounds so intimidating when you count them all up.

  2. Your quilt is lovely. I agree with Carrie – the simplicity of the design is what makes it so beautiful! The colors work perfectly and the white background lends to a crisp freshness. I guess I really notice colors because that’s what I’m working on: making wise color choices for my quilts. It’s inspiring to see how other quilters play with color!

  3. Your stats are interesting. I’m not sure I would like knowing how many days my projects are in processes! What do you use for start date? Fabric purchased? First cut of the fabric? First stitch?
