I’ve been flipping back and forth between three projects for the past week or so. mel_is_a_swapaholic on Instagram is hosting #SwoonQAL2017 and I’m participating. I’m using the Swoon Sixteen pattern and the Boo! line from Cotton + Steel with Flax Essex linen as the background. I’m very proud of myself because I pulled all the fabric from my stash for once! 🙂 I did end up mis-cutting one of the fat quarters, so I did buy a replacement for that one.
I decided to do one big torture session and cut all the pieces at once. It was a lot of cutting! Here are all the pretty pieces nice and organized in a bin:
Before I started sewing, I divided up the pieces into blocks so I could be sure to separate out the similar colors and patterns. Here are my block sets:
I can’t wait to get started on the sewing! 🙂
Oh woo! I’m always too scared to cut before I start, as I’ve done it once and ended up with a half a box filled with fabrics I had no intention of sewing together… But I think the system of matching of colours works so well! You might have convinced me to give it a go for this.
And cutting is always the tedious part too, so I know you’ll knock this off super quick! Looking forward to seeing it all come together.

Looks great! Getting all the cutting done in advance can mean a lot more sewing fun later. I look forward to seeing how your combinations come together.
These are such beautiful fabrics. What a wonderful quilt they will make. This is not a statement I would expect from myself but I love the little skulls.
Wow! That looks so lovely! I love to cut all the blocks in advance. It’s really nice to have a project ready to sew up a block or two at a time. These little piles look so neat!
I’m also a “cut everything in advance” person and while it can get tedious, I totally agree with Yvonne that it makes things a lot more fun later. Love how organized you are!
