Cheryl at Meadow Mist Designs is hosting the “Best of” linky party again this year! I decided to highlight my five favorite finishes of the year. 🙂
#5 – Ugly Christmas Sweaters Quilt:
I mean, how could you not love this one! All those bright colors? I knew I had to make one as soon as Lorna at Sew Fresh Quilts first posted about this one. Sew cute! 🙂
#4 – Summer Sampler 2016:
This was another one that I knew I had to make as soon as I saw some previews of it! The pattern is still available here. I used all Kona solids for this one and I really love the way it finished up. 🙂
#3 – Minecraft Quilt:
I had been wanting to make a Minecraft quilt for my daughter, but all that charting and planning just seemed like a giant drag. Then I saw that Kelli at That Looks Like It Needs Stitcheswas going to be hosting a quilt along. Problem solved! I gave it to my daughter for her birthday and she loved it! She sleeps with it every night and wraps up in it when she’s cold. 🙂
#2 – Hugs & Kisses on the Grand Canal Quilt:
I fell in love with and bought a fat quarter bundle of Kate Spain’s Grand Canal line, with no plan for how to use it. I decided to use a pattern I had designed a few months back and make a new quilt for our bed. I dubbed the quilt Hugs & Kisses on the Grand Canal. This is the first quilt that I’ve designed and made all by myself. In fact, the pattern is now up for sale in my shop on Etsy, here.
#1 – Snapshots Quilt:
On a spur-of-the-moment decision, I bought the kit to make the Snapshots Quilt by Fat Quarter Shop. I didn’t know how hard it would be to make, but I decided to give it a try. The instructions were very easy to follow and I was able to mostly keep up each month and get it done at the beginning of the year. Also on a spur-of-the-moment decision, I decided to submit it for consideration for the 2016 Mid-Atlantic Quilt Show and it was accepted! I ended up not winning a ribbon, but it was so exciting to see it hanging up at the show and see people looking at it and enjoying it. I also entered it in the State Fair of Virginia. I didn’t win a fair ribbon, but I did get an Award of Merit from the National Association of Certified Quilt Judges! (Scroll down on that page to see the photo.) I was extremely excited to have made an award-winning quilt! 🙂
And these weren’t even all the beautiful quilts you finished this year! Great recap of a wonderful year. I hope you have a joyous 2017.
What beautiful finishes! I love the minecraft quilt, my son would love one of those for his bed! I wish you a happy and productive 2017 and thanks for linking up to the Best of 2016 linky party!
A beautiful look back over the year! I hope you make many more for 2017 and that each one brings you thrills and chills!! Each of these quilts are amazing and fun!
The Snapshots Quilt is my favorite, but I love the inspiration in the stories that go along with each quilt you’ve chosen. The more I read on the various blogs, it sounds like a quilt along provides an terrific opportunity to work on a project with others. Cheers to you in 2017!
They all look great, but I think my favourite is the Minecraft quilt. It really is fun. A well-spent year!
#2 – the best for me!
Beautiful quilt.
Wonderful finishes. Wishing you a healthy, Happy New Year!!
I can see why these are your favourite quilts. They are all very beautiful. I love the summer sampler in particular but that ugly Christmas sweater is pretty gorgeous as well.
What a gorgeous selection of quilts. All absolutely beautiful and totally worthy of being called the best of 2016, although my favourite is the hugs and kisses :-). I’m looking forward to seeing all the pretties you make in 2017.
