This past weekend, I was lucky enough to get to go to the Sew Virginia Beach 2016 retreat! I had SO MUCH FUN!! In fact, I was having so much fun and getting so much sewing done that I only took a couple of pictures. Bad blogger, no cookie! π
On Friday, we had the pleasure of listening to Lee Monroe of May Chappell teach us how to make a super cute hard frame clutch bag. She also brought along a ton of quilts to show and they were each so beautiful! Her voile quilt has convinced me to cut up the voiles I’ve been hoarding and make them into a quilt. Eeeek! Lee’s mom, the “Guru”, was also there and she was totally adorable! Anyway, here’s a picture of the cute bag I made:
We had the option to bring blocks to be made into quilts for the Hopes and Dreams
Quilt Challenge for ALS by Quilter’s Dream Batting. I brought 84 blocks, which netted me 42 raffle tickets. I had my stack of tickets sitting there and when the first number was called, I looked through them and thought I didn’t have the number. The number got called a couple more times before I finally double checked and the last one in the pile was that number! I won an Oliso SmartIron!! I couldn’t believe it!! This is the coolest iron ever!! <3
On Saturday, Alison Glass taught a great project using reverse appliquΓ© with her wonderful quilting fabrics and knit fabrics from Andover. She also brought along a ton of her quilts to show. I was so busy looking at all of them, that I didn’t take any pictures. Shame on me! It reminded me that I have a fat quarter bundle of Sun Print 2016 that I need to figure out what to do with soon. <3 I had such a great time and I can't wait to do it again next year! π
I think it is definitely a sign of a good time when you were so busy in the present moment that you did not take many photos. It sounds like a lovely weekend and congratulations on winning the iron! π
oh wow!! Congrats on winning the iron – that’s been on my wish list for quite some time now as is attending a sewing retreat. It’s probably better for me there aren’t more pictures or I’d be crying in my keyboard that I missed it… π
