So after having made almost 2500 hexies for my Ten Year Plan Quilt<\/a>, I decided I’d better try sewing a few together to make sure that part wasn’t going to be a deal breaker. \ud83d\ude00 Last Friday, I made up 42 hexies from a mini charm pack of Kate Spain’s Jingle fabric and got to work whip stitching them together. We also had an unexpected visitor in the form of Hurricane Matthew. He was supposed to be a good boy and turn out to sea before he got here, but he decided he wanted to visit the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. Rude! <\/p>\n

Our power went out at a little after midnight Saturday morning, so I needed a project I could work on without my sewing machine. I made up 42 more hexies from another mini charm pack of the same Jingle fabric and kept on sewing them together. <\/p>\n

Matthew finally left town on Sunday, but because of all the downed trees, our power didn’t come back on until a little after midnight on Monday morning. We are very thankful that our neighbors let us run an extension cord over to their house for our refrigerator. They have a big generator that runs most of their house when the power goes out. We will definitely be getting some sort of generator before the next hurricane season!<\/p>\n

I think this is going to be a pillow eventually or maybe a mini quilt. I’m going to make it somewhat bigger first and then decide. I have two more Jingle mini charm packs on the way here, so we’ll see how big it gets. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
